I did this piece while I had a migraine. (I get them really badly all the time) Rather than lay down and submit to the pain, I decided to fight it by painting something... and I wanted it to be raw and emotional. And what can be more raw and emotional than a woman you are attracted to, but vowed to yourself not to take it there for risk of losing a beautiful friendship. So I released the emotion of this situation's complexities onto a piece of hardwood with a palette knife until I couldn't see anymore (I get the little floaters in front of my eyes when I get migraines). I took a nap for a couple of hours and when I woke up, I saw what I am showing you. I decided not to change anything because this captured what I was feeling... the need for a good friend I love, rather than a lover who used to be my friend. C'est la vie. I know way too many beautiful women. Life sucks, then you die. Anyway, my migraine was over when I woke up. To my beautiful friend; I WILL keep my promise: I won't let us cross that line... no matter how much we want to... even if I end up with a whole collection of you. I need you more than air... that's more important, right?
